Backcrossis amethodof
selectionby crossingbackthe progenywith oneof its parent linein order to
produceoffsprings that similar to their parents. The purpose of this study was
to evaluate thematernal effect of the live weight and feed convertion.
Alabioduckshadpreviouslycrossed withPekin ducksinBalai Penelitian Ternak Ciawi,
Bogor. Twelve Alabio Alabio Pekin (AAP), 17 Alabio Pekin Alabio(APA) and 28
Pekin Alabio Pekin (PAP) had been randomly selected and evaluated. The body
weight and growth curve of PAP show the best result when compared to the
others. The PAP has the smallest value of feed convertion and it indicates that
PAP ducks are more efficient in converting feed into meat. The maternal effect
didn’t affectbody weight of AAP, butaffectedthe feed convertion of AAP and APA.
