Karakteristik Umum Sapi Aceh

Sapi Aceh merupakan salah satu sapi asli Indonesia, mempunyai daya tahan terhadap lingkungan yang buruk seperti krisis pakan, air dan pakan berserat tinggi, penyakit parasit, temperatur panas dan sistem pemeliharaan ekstensif tradisional (Abdullah et al., 2006). Sapi Aceh pada umumnya, hidup dan berkembang biak di provinsi aceh dan juga di Provinsi Sumatera Utara. Sapi aceh ini dikembang-biakkan oleh para petani pedesaan sejak dulu hingga saat ini.Sapi ini termasuk sapi potong dan pekerja yang mempunyai kontribusi cukup besar bagi pemenuhan kebutuhan daging dan berkontribusi dalam pengolahan lahan pertanian di daerah (Diskeswannak, 2011).

Sapi Aceh memiliki badan kecil, padat dan kompak dengan pundak pada jantan berpunuk, sedangkan betina tidak berpunuk namun bagian pundaknya tidak rata, sedikit menonjol dibanding sapi bali betina. Pola warna bulu sapi aceh ini pada umumnya berwarna coklat atau merah bata. Pada umumnya sapi aceh bertanduk, tapi juga terdapat juga sapi aceh yang tidak bertanduk 7% hanya dijumpai pada betina (Abdullah et all., 2006).

Bangsa sapi Aceh menurut (Blakely dan bade, 1992) mempunyai susunan klasifikasi taksonomi sebagai berikut :

Sapi Aceh merupakan salah satu dari 4 bangsa sapi lokal Indonesia ( Aceh, Pesisir, Madura dan Bali). Sapi Sumba-Ongole dan Java-Ongole (PO) juga dianggap sebagi bangsa sapi lokal Indonesia (Dahlanuddin et al,. 2003).


The Viability Immunoglobulin G Anti Escherichia coli originated from microencapsulated bovine colostrum

Colostral immunoglobulin G has potential for developed because has contains substances resistant to specific pathogens. The objective of this experiment was to evaluate the viability of microencapsulated IgG anti Escherichia coli during storage for 8 weeks at 4 oC. The microcapsules were made with the different ratio between IgG and alginate i.e. 20:80 (P1), 30:70 (P2), 40:60 (P3) respectively. The microcapsules were stored at 4 oC and observed for 8 weeks. The IgG consentration were analyzed using indirect Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). Results of the experiment indicated that no significant changes on the concentration of IgG on P1 and P2 microcapsules (p >0.05) up to 4 weeks of storage, while changes were documented on P3 microcapsules at week 4 of storage. In conclusion, microcapsules with the ratio of IgG colostrums and alginate 20:80 and 30:70 better if compare to of those with ratio 40:60 stored within 4 weeks at 4 oC.

Effects of Pens Humidity Level on The Occurance of Subclinical Mastitis and Bovine Tuberculosis in Dairy Cattle at Bogor.

Climate is essentials for livestock production and animals health. Poor humidity level will affect thermoregulatory responses of animals, which would make animals more susceptible to diseases. Subclinical mastitis is an inflammation of the mammary gland without visible sign of the disease, but can reduce milk production and quality. Bovine Tuberculosis is a chronic disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex, able to infect practically most of mammalian species. The aim of this study is to determine the influence of pens humidity level to subclinical mastitis and bovine tuberculosis incidences on cattle. This research took place at Kawasan Usaha Peternakan (KUNAK) and Kebon Pedes Bogor. One hundred eighty five (185) milk samples from forty seven (47) cattle were used for subclinical mastitis test in normal lactation, and forty seven (47) cattle samples were used for tuberculin test. The result showed that there was no association (p > 0.05) between humidity level to both subclinical mastitis and tuberculosis incidence in Bogor. Risk factors of both variable, humidity level towards subclinical mastitis (SK 95% 0.82–3.15) and humidity level towards tuberculosis (SK 95% 0.55–3.15) was insignificant.

Antibacterial Activity of N-hexane Extract of Attacus atlas Imago againsts Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli

Antibacterial was a substance that can be used to inhibit the growth of bacterias or to kill them. Antibacterial could be taken directly from the nature or could be produced in semisintetic form or modificated from biosintetic molecules. The aim of the research was to find out the potency of antibacterial activity of n-hexane extract of Attacus atlas imago againsts Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli.. The extraction of sample was done by maseration method using incubator shaker for 72 hours in 37 temperature with 125 rpm speed. Then the filtrat was evaporated using rotary evaporator in 60 temperature and 0.045 mPa pressure during 27 minutes. Test of antibacterial activity was done by using well difusion method and compared by positive control (antibiotic ciprofloxacin) and negative control (n-hexane). The result showed the inhibitory zone of extract with the diameter of 6.00 mm on isolate of Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli. Based on the result of the test known that n-hexane extract of Attacus atlas imago has no antibacterial activity on Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli.

Strongyle Infection in Beef Cattle in the Ronggo Village, Jaken Sub District of Pati Regency

Helminthiosis is a major constraints of beef cattle industry. Helminthiosis causes great economic loss to beef cattle industry by way of retarded growth, low production and increase susceptibilty of animal to other infections. One type of nematode worms that can infect and cause a loss in beef cattle is a group of strongyle. The purpose of this study was to determine the prevalence, intensity of strongyle infection and risk factors for the infection in beef cattle in the Ronggo Village, Jaken Sub District of Pati Regency. This study used cross-sectional study to collected 200 samples of cattle feces and interviewing 90 farmers. The risk factors associated with farm management obtained by interview through structured questionnaires with farmers. Fecal samples were examined with a modified Mcmaster method and floatation solution technique to determine the number of eggs per gram of feces (EPG) and detect the presence and The data was analyzed by Chi-square, Mann-Whitney and Kruskal-Wallis. The results showed that 103 samples of beef cattle positive with strongyle infection with a prevalence rate of 51.5% (confidence interval (CI) 95%; 44.6%-58.4%). The number of strongyle eggs per gram of feces was 178 (CI 95%; 141-215) which was in category of light infection. Based on age categories, management criterion of feeding grass method and the last deworming showed a significantly different effect on the prevalence of strongyle infection (p<0 .05="" o:p="">
